The World Cup, one of the world’s biggest sporting events, takes place once every four years. As the global sporting competition gets ready to kick off, the question remains: Is Brazil, the host nation, ready?

Over the next month, the top 32 football teams on the planet will battle it out to determine who’ll take home the famous golden trophy. While there’s great anticipation for lots of goals and thrilling entertainment, is Brazil prepared to host one of the world’s biggest sporting events? CCTV correspondent Joel Richards reports from Rio de Janeiro.

While there are plenty of advantages for Brazil in hosting the World Cup, what are some of the disadvantages? To discuss these issues, CCTV’s Anand Naidoo is joined by Paulo Sotero, Director of the Brazil Institute at the Woodrow Wilson Center; and Vasco Mota Pereira, a football reporter.
