Tour of São Paulo; World Cup host city

Elaine Reyes takes us on a video tour of São Paulo, the largest city in South America. 11 million people live in this booming metropolis. The biggest competition in South America has finally arrived. It’s estimated one billion viewers will be watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the most watched event in the world.

FIFA held the first opening match in São Paulo, where Brazil beat Croatia in the Arena Corinthians stadium. Finishing touches were put on the stadium after a long period of construction and several delays. São Paulo is a sea of skyscrapers and a magnet for business and the nation’s financial hub.

São Paulo is the heartbeat of Brazil, with vibrant energy felt everywhere. There are buildings as far as the eye can see. And the locals agree. “São Paulo is a beautiful city, a city that has everything you could want.”

From hotels, to cafes to the passion and love São Paulo has for football, Elaine Reyes will first take us to Bovespa, Brazil’s only stock exchange and Latin America’s largest. Bovespa has played an important role in creating the “economic miracle” that has taken place in Brazil.

Brazil has gone from a country ruled by dictatorship in the 1980’s, to a country with the world’s seventh largest economy by 2010. Its blue chip stock exchange is comprised of 50 of Brazil’s largest companies.

Americas Now takes an inside look at Bovespa and some of the notorious key industries and talks to local businessmen and residents.
