Rio de Janeiro seems to be the cosmopolitan center of world football, with fans from all over the world. CCTV’s Stephen Gibbs found some Chinese football fans at a beach in Rio.
More than 600 thousand foreign fans are or will be visiting Brazil for the World Cup, and more than 3 billion are watching the games on television.
The claim that football is the global sport seems true when the tens of thousands of tourists from countries who have no teams playing in the World Cup are also accounted for.
One notable exception in the participants is the smaller amount of Chinese tourists in Brazil for the World Cup, but that may change in the future.
