But their popularity is becoming a plague, as they are often used as a quick getaway after a crime. CCTV Correspondent Martin Markovits takes a look at the policies and politics behind Venezuela’s menacing motorbikes.

“The majority of people, and my friends, have been robbed by motorcycles; have been killed by guys on motorcycles,” Jorge Marquez said.

For many in this city, motorcycles are a symbol of anarchy. And while the government has tried to crack down, police largely look the other way.
