China hosted a celebration for the 60th anniversary of the Principles of Peaceful Co-existence on Saturday at the Great Hall of the People. CCTV’s Zhang Nini reports from Beijing.

The 60th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence brought president of Myanmar Thein Sein and Indian vice president Mohammad Hamid Ansari to Beijing as the principles remain relevant and are highly regarded.
Sixty years ago, these countries pledged to put forward these principles. Today, the principles remain as relevant as ever.

India designated 2014 as a year of friendly exchanges with China, and Vice President Ansari urged other countries to expand the principles to seek fair solutions to issues they may face in the future.

“Our destinies are intertwined. Our goal is to tackle transnational threats more effectively.” – Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari

As the host for the celebration, President Xi emphasized the respect for territorial integrity as the basis for state-to-state relations at the celebration, stressing the importance of common security interests and development in creating a more just and democratic international order.
He was very clear on China’s stance.

“China will continue to stick to the path of peaceful development. China is admant in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and interest, and encourages other countries to do the same. China will never interfere in other countries internal affairs and will never seek hegemony.” – Chinese President Xi Jinping
