It was a nice run, but the U.S. football team met their match in Belgium, losing their first game of the knock-out stage. Belgium beat the U.S. team, with a final score of 2-1.
Belgium scored the first goal 3 minutes in extra time, with footballer Kevin De Bruyne making the goal. While American player Julian Green did score a goal for the U.S. team, it proved insufficient to win the match.
Belgian footballer Lukaku scored the team’s second goal, insuring the Belgium win.
Even so, the goalkeeper for the U.S. team, Tim Howard, recorded an astounding 16 saves against the Belgium team.
While the U.S. team is done in this year’s FIFA World Cup, Belgium moves on in the quarter-finals. Belgium will be playing Argentina on Saturday, July 5th.
