Food security around the world is improving. The Global Food Index – a joint effort by DuPont and its research partner- closely examines the issue across some 109 countries.

According to the study, food security means people have quote- ‘physical and economic access’ to enough food to meet their dietary needs.’ About 30 different factors go into determine each country’s index score, but there are three main categories:

First, how affordable is food and are there programs in place if there’s a price surge. The second factor is availability and if there enough food to go around. The last measure is quality. Researchers say that covers the variety of food available, average nutritional value and the safety of the overall food supply chain.
