The suspects appeared before a central Israeli court Sunday. According to sources close to the investigation, “nationalist motives” may have driven them to kill 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir.

Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has also said he wants the United Nations to get involved on this case, saying that he requested an “international investigation committee” be formed to combat terror crimes against his people.

This comes the same day that Abu Khdeir’s cousin, a Palestinian-American with dual nationality, was released from Israeli custody after footage was shown that Israeli forces had beaten him at a protest the same weekend. Israeli police are investigating this situation as well.

In addition, Israel’s military has detained another suspect in the murder of the three Israeli teens that were murdered last month, and buried the day prior to the reported abduction of Abu Khdeir.

Israeli President Shimon Peres vowed to bring all to justice.

“We shall not cover anything, we shall discover all the people that have acted criminally against somebody else, killed, kidnapped, tortured, and on that we shall not make any compromise.”
