China’s official news agency Xinhua said that “China-Germany relations are at their best in history, strongly underpinned by the pragmatic cooperation between the two economic heavyweights.

Economic and business ties between China and Germany dominated Monday’s meeting between Chinese leaders and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

China and Germany signed a series of trade and investment deals, including agreements on two new Volkswagen factories and the sale of 123 Airbus helicopters.

Also on Monday, German airline group Lufthansa signed a deal to form a joint venture with Air China.

China and Germany agreed to strengthen cooperation in fields of innovation, sustainable development and environmental protection.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said the outcome of the talks has led to an 80 billion yuan or $13 billion dollar investment quota granted to Germany under the RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFII) program. He added the cooperation between the two countries has great potential ahead.
