Warehouse fire halts Beijing subway operation

Fire engulfed a protective screen on an aboveground section of the Beijing subway on Sunday evening, firefighters said. No casualties were reported.

Operation ceased on the Xizhimen-Zhichunlu section of the Line 13 at 7:41 p.m. A fire broke out at a warehouse and later set alight the subway screen. Nineteen fire engines rushed to the site and put out the blaze at 8:26 p.m..

The screen separates the line from nearby and reduces noise from running trains. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
