Israel sends more troops into Gaza Strip

World Today

Israel is threatening to expand its offensive against militants firing rockets from the Gaza strip.

Air raid sirens wailed Tuesday from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as explosions were heard in both cities.

Israel’s government has authorized 40-thousand more troops for the operation.

Air raid sirens wailed as far north as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem today.

Israel’s government has authorized up to an additional 40 thousand reservists if needed for the operation.

The army says half that number has been mobilized, along with 15 hundred that were already called up.

The Israeli government has called up reserve soldiers and is deploying them to various parts across the country, part of “operation protective edge.”

Now the Israeli military has carried out dozens of airstrikes in the first day of this operation and that already has led to more than a dozen fatalities among Palestinians including members of the same family in khan youngish.

We understand as well from Palestinian medical sources that there are dozens of casualties and there is a growing concern among them inside Gaza that as this operation continues the casualty and fatality numbers are going to put a strain on an already very deficient healthcare system inside the Gaza strip.

Inside Israel, the sirens have been going off, not only in the southern communities but now far north and that is going to be a major cause of concern for the Israeli government.

The Israeli government has already ordered some of the childcare programs and summer school programs in the southern part of the country to be canceled if certain facilities don’t have bomb shelters. They tell you about the psychological terror that they’ve had to endure as a result of this very consistent Palestinian rocket fire.
