UN says Boko Haram is affecting security in West Africa

The United Nations says escalating violence is threatening the security of those living in West Africa. The World Body says it’s all because of the Boko Haram insurgency. This latest warning is coming from the UN special envoy for West Africa.

Said Djinnit, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for West Africa, added that the UN Office for West Africa (UNOWA), which he heads, has been trying to sensitize regional leaders to the need for “decisive concerted efforts” to fight these threats to regional security and stability.
