A new report shows that sales reflect a trend that fast food consumers care more about taste and quality. CCTV’s Karina Huber reports.
The world’s largest fast food brands just got failing marks from consumers. Over 30,000 subscribers of Consumer Reports ranked McDonald’s as the worst hamburger, Taco Bell for worst burrito, and KFC for worst chicken.
Despite the sluggish economy, middle class Americans have become pickier about their food, willing to pay a bit more for something of higher quality.
Fast casual restaurants like Chipotle and Panera Bread are able to compete because of this, and their popularity is growing rapidly. U.S. sales grew by 11 percent last year.
That’s why Yum Brands, the parent company of Taco Bell and KFC, have their sights set on Asia for future growth. Also, McDonald’s recently said it would add 300 locations in China this year.
