As the death toll and number of injuries at the Gaza border increases, Egypt opened its hospitals to provide medical assistance to victims of the conflict. CCTV’s Adel El-Mahrouky reports.

After six days of Israeli air strikes, the Palestinian Red Cross reported that Gaza’s hospitals were on the verge of collapse from the rising casualities. Egypt responded by providing emergency assistance.

In northeastern Egypt, hospitals in four different cities along the Suez Canal are treating wounded Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Patients that are in critical condition are being transferred to hospitals in Cairo, which have better facilities.

Dozens of Palestinians have been treated in Egypt so far, and that number continues to increase as more patients go to Egypt for emergency medical care.

Egyptian authorities have been providing supplies and food to victims in Gaza. According to the Palestinian Red Cross, the Egyptian Army has so far sent about 500 tons of nutritional products.

Although Egyptian hospitals struggle to serve their own citizens, Cairo is trying to provide as much assistance as it can for victims of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The situation at the Gaza Strip will not likely end in the near future, after Israel deployed ground troops there for the first time early Sunday.
