FIFA ambassador Romero Britto believes art is an agent of positive change

Miami is a major center for commerce, culture, entertainment and the arts. And because of its diversity, the city attracts a large number of artists. One of those artists has been fascinated by the city’s style and filling the streets with color and vibrancy. Romero Britto believes art is too important not to share.

Britto has exhibited from London to Tokyo, and brings people together through his illuminating art. He was named one of FIFA’s World Cup Ambassadors, and is a firm believer that the role of an artist is to be an agent of positive change. He has dedicated himself to developing and supporting the powerful role art plays in world issues, but also hoping to bring a smile to people’s faces with their art.

“They can be music for people’s eyes, when you look at it,” he says. “It’s like a special feeling, an energy, a positive feeling, feeling happy.”

Born in Brazil to a single mother of nine children, Britto says poverty is limiting. He’s a strong advocate of education and wants to provide children with opportunities they may not have — like going to school.

“My foundation will be able to support young artists or someone getting a better education,” he says. His art is presently featured on five continents in over 100 galleries.
