Tony Blair visits Cairo to discuss Gaza crisis

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair met with Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in Cairo to discuss the crisis at the Israel-Gaza border. CCTV's Adel El Mahrouky reports.

The meeting reviewed the latest events in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Al-Sisi’s efforts to end the crisis at both political and humanitarian levels.

Al-Sisi also warned Blair that further military escalation in that area could result in heavier losses of civilian lives.

Blair also spole with Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shokry before going back to Jerusalem to continue negotiations.

Blair’s visit to Cairo after two days of talks in Israel shows the importance of Egypt’s role in the crisis, according to experts.

This happens as the Arab League has called for an urgent meeting of its foreign ministers in Cairo over the crisis in Gaza, while Israel has sent ground troops into the Gaza Strip on Sunday for the first time.
