Ukrainians mourn for MH17 victims
Ukraine is calling for immediate international action on the downing of Malaysia airlines flight 17. Ukrainians mourning the victims of the attack say they want its perpetrators held accountable. CCTV's Roee Ruttenberg reports from Kiev with details.Ukraine accused pro-Russian separatists of shooting down a Malaysian jetliner with 295 people aboard on Thursday, sharply escalating the crisis and threatening to draw both East and West deeper into the conflict.
No Ukrainians were onboard MH17, but that has not stopped the nation from mourning. It is a grief perhaps best seen outside of the Dutch Embassy in Kiev, where people have gathered every day since the disaster.
For most Ukrainians, the tragic death of the 298 passengers is an extension of the fighting, first in the capital city Kiev, then in the east, that has killed hundreds in recent months. While most Ukrainians blame Russia for the downing of the passenger flight, they still demand an international investigation on this incident.
CCTV’s Susan Roberts interviews William Courtney, deputy director for the Middle east and north Africa division of Human Rights Watch, to talk about downing of flight MH17.
