China-Venezuela relations have grown from a diplomatic link to an economic and political bong over the past ten years.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is on his way to Cuba, but he spent the past few days in Venezuela where he made a few cultural stops and laid the groundwork some pretty significant trade agreements including one focused on oil.

Deals expected in biotech and pharmaceuticals

The timing of this visit is important for Cuba. President Xi Jinping arrives at a critical point in this communist country's efforts to modernize its economy which is showing very poor growth at the moment.
