An urgent round of negotiations is underway as U.S. President Barack Obama and the UN Security Council are calling for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and the militant group Hamas.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry are in the Middle East in an effort to broker a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.
