hinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his visit to Cuba after signing 29 collaboration agreements.They include renewable energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure. During his trip to Cuba, Xi was awarded the Jose Marti Order, Cuba's highest decoration. It is a recognition of his contribution to the development of Cuba-China relations. CCTV's Wu Haojun has more.

This is President Xi’s first visit to the country since taking office. Cuban President Raul Castro awarded Cuba’s top honor- the “Jose Marti” Medal to President Xi.

Jose Marti was a Cuban national hero and an important figure in Latin American literature. Xi thanked the Cuban government for the honor and delivered a speech afterward.

China is fully confident in the future development of its relations with Cuba. China is willing to be a good friend, comrade and brother of Cuba forever and join hands with Cuba to constantly elevate bilateral ties to new heights, Xi added.

Xi also laid a wreath at a monument to Jose Marti. CCTV’s Michael Voss has the details.

While both countries are Communist-led, China today also has a thriving market economy. Cuba only recently started its economic reforms, but as our senior Latin America correspondent Michael Voss reports, this Caribbean island is not looking to copy the Chinese model.
