Rescue and recovery operations have concluded as all 48 bodies from TransAsia Airways Flight GE222, which crashed in Taiwan’s Penghu County on Wednesday, have been pulled out from the wreckage. More than two-thirds of the victims have been identified, and their families have arrived to pay their last respects and to demand answers. CCTV America’s Barnaby Lo reports from Taiwan.

Their families, shocked and devastated, gathered at a local funeral hall to pay their last respects. The government pledged a swift and thorough investigation into what caused the incident.

“We will download the data from the black boxes. We will then check its integrity and authenticity,” said Wang Hsing Chung of the Aviation Safety Council. “We know there are two boxes recording different kinds of data. We will analyze the data and then synchronize and confirm them.”

For now, all fingers point to stormy weather as the likely cause of the crash. Officials insist, however, that all indications were that it was safe to fly.
