Three days of mourning in France for Air Algerie victims

World Today

France is observing three days of mourning for the victims of the Air Algerie plane tragedy. Of the 118 killed, nearly half were French.

An Air Algerie jetliner crashed Thursday in a rainstorm over restive Mali, the third major international aviation disaster in a week.

The plane was owned by Spanish company Swiftair and leased by Algeria’s flagship carrier. It disappeared from radar less than an hour after it took off from Burkina Faso’s capital of Ouagadougou for Algiers.

Flight recorders from the crash will be sent to France for analysis.
