South Africa is on a drive to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in the country.

The creation of small businesses is integral to the success of the National Development Plan, a map for the country’s growth path over the next two decades.
But with an almost 70 percent failure rate for start-up businesses, it may be a difficult road.

Meanwhile, Africa is boasting what is being called by some reports “African Lion” economies. Africa has skyrocketed in ranking in terms of investment attractiveness. In 2011, the continent was third to last.

Now Africa is the second-most attractive destination in the world according to a new global survey. That’s second only to North America. But foreign direct investment has been declining the past two years, mostly because of political uncertainty in North Africa.
