China jails GSK-linked British investigator

A Shanghai court sentenced to jail two private investigators hired by British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline.
They were found guilty of illegally obtaining information about Chinese citizens.

GSK hired Peter Humphrey and Yingzeng Yu in March 2013 for “Project Scorpion”, an investigation into a former employee that it suspected of a smear campaign against its China boss. The couple’s arrest last year coincided with a Chinese probe into allegations that GSK staff had funneled hundreds of millions of pounds through travel agencies to bribe local doctors and health officials to boost sales and raise prices.
