Americas Now

Art Museum of the Americas

Washington, D.C. is well known for its plethora of museums. But there are plenty that are hidden gems throughout the city, including some don’t even know exist. One museum that could be called a best-kept secret is the Art Museum of the Americas.

And what is its purpose? It’s to promote Latin American and Caribbean Art in the United States.

Currently, the Art Museum of the Americas has an exhibit called, “American States. In Yuan Xikun’s eyes.” The featured artist is a sculptor and the creator of one of Beijing’s first privately owned museums, The Beijing Jin Tai Art Museum. It recognizes figures who have made extraordinary contributions to the Americas.

Elaine Reyes sits down with the Director of the Art Museum, Andres Navia, to discuss the exhibit.
