Ukraine hits Russia back with sanctions, violence continues

The violence in eastern Ukraine continued to escalate after Ukraine put retaliatory sanctions on Russia. At least three people have been killed in an airstrike in rebel-held Donetsk.

According to the International Committee for the Red Cross, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced due to the fighting. Diplomatic tensions remain high as well, as Kiev still accuses Russia of supporting the rebel fighters.
