Ancient sites in Myanmar named to UNESCO World Heritage List

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization put three ancient sites in Myanmar on its World Heritage List. This move could boost tourism in the fomerly-hermit country, which was closed off from the world for decades.

Since Myanmar began to open up in 2011, the tourism industry has grown. The minister of tourism’s goal is for nine million tourists to visit the Myanmar annually by the year 2020.
