Video of trapped Iraqi refugees released

World Today

The Kurdish news agency Firat released footage of thousands of Yazidi refugees. The U.S. has conducted at least five airstrikes on Islamic State positions, and France has joined the U.S. and Britain in sending aid.

The images show the reality of the humanitarian crisis on Mount Sinjar, where as many as 150,000 people are held hostage by IS.

The U.S., Britain and now France are air-dropping aid in the form of food and supplies to the trapped people. This happens as the Kurdish troops try to protect an escape route for the refugees.
