The threat from the Islamic State militant group in Iraq and the humanitarian crisis are just two of the pressing concerns for the United Nations Secretary General.

U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon says a coordinated global response is essential if the world is going to stem the spread of the disease which has killed more than 1,000 people. In response to the Ebola outbreak, the United Nations is strengthening its response to help fight the deadly virus’ spread.

The World Health Organization estimates that more than 1,800 people have been infected. Ban said Ebola can be prevented, but adding panic and fear need to be avoided.
