Paulo Sotero, director of the Brazil Institute at the Wilson Center, talks a little bit about what the future has in store for Brazil and what that means for President Dilma Rousseff.

CCTV America recently interviewed Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff following the conclusion of the World Cup. President Rousseff, who is up for re-election in October, gave her views on several issues that are important to the country.

“We are in a moment of change, regarding the outlook of the October presidential elections,” said Sotero.

He says in Brazil, there is an absolute majority voting process. If there isn’t an absolute majority, there is a second round of voting, and believes this will happen in October. “Until a few weeks ago, most analysts were saying that it was a forgone conclusion that President Dilma Rousseff would be re-elected President,” he says. “They are not saying that anymore.”

Elaine Reyes asks Paulo Sotero more about his thoughts on President Rousseff’s statements, which include the recent BRICS Summit and its development of a new bank.
