Julian Assange still trying to leave Ecuador’s London embassy

Ecuador is seeking a meeting with the U.K. government to discuss the two-year deadlock over WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is wanted in both Sweden and the United States.

The 43-year-old Australian announced that he would “soon” be leaving the Ecuadorian embassy in London, but gave no further details.

He has been confined in the embassy for two years to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning over alleged sexual assaults.

Assange fears that he would face further extradition to the U.S., where he could be tried for taking part in one of the largest leaks of military information in history.

Should Julian Assange leave the embassy, he will be arrested and extradited to Sweden within ten days. CCTV’s Richard Bestic reports.
