The Islamic State faction in Syria that beheaded an American journalist is now the target of a criminal investigation in the U.S. James Foley’s murder was recorded on a video released by the terror group.

A U.S. official said Thursday the Islamic State militants had demanded $132.5 million in ransom for Foley’s release. Attorney General Eric Holder said the Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the matter.
