Exclusive: CCTV interviews Peter Piot, scientist who co-discovered Ebola

Ebola Outbreak

The scientist who co-discovered Ebola claims it is the worst and longest Ebola outbreak on record. In an exclusive interview with CCTV’s James Chau, Peter Piot said the vulnerable healthcare systems in the affected African countries need international attention and help.

There have been 3,069 cases of Ebola in West Africa, accounting for at least 1,552 deaths, according to the WHO. A man infected with Ebola traveled to Senegal, bringing to the country the first confirmed case of the virus, the Ministry of Health said Friday.
