Cuba imposes new import restrictions for passengers

Cuba

The Cuban government imposed new import restrictions including raising taxes and limiting the amount of foreign-bought goods that passengers can bring with them in their personal luggage.

The government said that these new rules are needed because people are abusing the system and bringing in vast quantities of goods to sell on the black market.

Many Cubans fear that the new measures will reduce choices for shoppers and make it harder for private firms to get a hold of the products they need.
