The Heat

The cease-fire in Ukraine is holding steady for the most part, but the European Union remains poised to impose more economic sanctions on Russia if it shows it cannot resolve the crisis.

Shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko spoke on the phone this weekend, fighting resumed in Donetsk near the port of Mariupol.

This happened as Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev responded to the EU’s threat of new sanctions by threatening to prevent airlines from flying through Russian airspace.
