Nigerian efforts to contain Ebola virus

Ebola Outbreak

The Nigerian government says the country now is free of the Ebola virus disease. The pronouncement follows a similar statement from the World Health Organization, which say the virus has been contained in both Nigeria and Senegal. How did Nigeria manage to overcome a disease that many had feared was going to wreak havoc in Africa’s most populous country.
CCTV America’s Deji Badmus reports.

It has been 68 days now when Patrick Sawyer brought Ebola to Nigeria. He died just days after arriving Lagos with the disease. Seven other Nigerians, who had contact with him also died. Nineteen others survived and made full recovery. Hundreds were put under surveillance.

Nigeria has now turned the corner in its fight against Ebola. Not a single person in the country is now being monitored for the virus.
