Air France strike costing carrier $25M daily

Talks between Air France and its main pilots union broke down once again, with Thursday marking the eleventh day of a strike. Air France wants to restructure and move most of its European operations to low-cost carrier, Transavia.

During talks Wednesday, the airline offered to completely get rid of that part of the plan. But the pilots union said it will continue its strike anyway despite the offer. The unions responded with a counter-offer that was being discussed in negotiations Thursday.

The walkout has grounded more than half of the airline’s flights, stranding passengers worldwide. The strike is also costing Air France approximately $25 million a day.
