Global Business

The United States has overtaken France as the world’s biggest national wine market, according to a report from the International Organization of Vine and Wine. The report also shows that wine consumption was actually down last year, with wine consumption in France, Spain, Italy, and China on the decline. CCTV America’s Jessica Stone reports from the heart of Virginia’s wine country.

There are currently 275 wine makers in Virginia alone and more than 77,000 in the United States. U.S. wine production is up more than six percent, helped by the varied climates in the country.
