Mass grave uncovered in Mexico a week after students disappear

World Today

Families of more than three dozen missing students in Mexico are demanding answers after authorities said 28 bodies were pulled from a mass grave site in the southern Guerrero state on Saturday.

Authorities are still trying to determine if the bodies are of the students who went missing last week after clashes with police.

At least 22 police officers have been detained in connection with this case, and they may face murder charges. Information on the identities of the bodies has been slow in surfacing, which has added to the frustration of friends and family of the missing students.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has promised to bring those who are guilty to justice.

As of now, forensics officials are looking for evidence to help identify the victims, and learn more about who may have left the 28 bodies in Guerrero state.
