Two Colorado startups that are prospering

Two Colorado companies, one specializing in managing contacts, and the other in sending emails, are examples of start-up companies that have significantly impacted the United States and the world. CCTV America’s Hendrik Sybrandy reports.

In a basement office in Denver, a company called Full Contact said it made computer address books easier to manage. The company works with 500 software companies and many more people who use its application.

“Full Contact is about helping to keep your contacts complete, accurate and up to date.” said Ben Deda, vice president of sales and development at Full Contact.

In Boulder, another company SendGrid helps businesses move emails from The cloud to a person’s computer inbox.

“SendGrid has become this relay system. You send the mail to us and we send it on to the customer,” said C.E.O. Jim Franklin.

Franklin said his company now has over 175,000 global customers from places like Israel, Brazil and China.

Both companies launched five years ago and have been big job creators. Start-ups are flourishing in Colorado. Denver Start-up Week recently showed new company owners and would-be entrepreneurs how to succeed.

“I think start-ups help to really fuel everything else that’s going on in the economy,” Deda said.
