Putin gets warm welcome during official visit to Serbia

Russian President Vladimir Putin made an official visit to Serbia’s capital Belgrade to mark the 70th anniversary of the city’s liberation from the Nazis. Putin’s trip comes as Serbia finds itself caught in the middle between Russia and the European Union interests. CCTV America’s Anya Ardayeva reports from Moscow.

Putin received a very warm welcome in Belgrade. He attended Serbia’s first military parade in 30 years, to mark the Soviet Union’s liberation of Yugoslavia in World War II.

“The 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade, is a very important event. We are not ashamed of our guests. We want to have good relations with the Russian federation,” said Servian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

More than 3,000 Serbian soldiers marched in the parade, which featured tanks, boats and airplanes.

Just before to Putin’s visit, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandr Vucic said that Serbian and Russian peoples are very close and that Serbia wants to attract Russian investment.
