World’s largest desert electronic dance party held in the Dead Sea

Electronic music, the world’s top DJs, and the lowest point on earth are perfect combinations for a massive party. This week’s Dead Sea Rave attracted more than 10,000 merrymakers to Israel’s desert. CCTV America’s Stephanie Freid reports.

The Dead Sea is 424 meters (0.263 miles) below sea level, which is the earth’s lowest point. This may be the perfect spot for a rave.

For a second year running, promoters pulled off Israel’s biggest desert electronic dance party. The beats are fresh, the crowd is young and energetic, and the lineup includes the world’s leading electronic DJs Sander Van Doorn, W&W and Paul Oakenfold. Die-hard ravers traveled thousands of miles to ride the high energy wave.

Equally fantastic, planners waited for Israel’s political climate to calm down before planning the event. They put it together in six weeks.

The event producers admit that the Israeli military incursion in Gaza this summer hurt attendance this year, but they’re glad that they were able to pull it off.

Barring unforeseen political developments, promoters anticipate at least double the number of revelers next year.
