Dilma Rousseff secures Brazil’s presidency in re-election

There are four more years for the Brazilian president and her supporters jubilant that victory, albeit only just, was theirs. CCTV America’s Stephen Gibbs reports.

The president was quick to dismiss suggestions that what has been a particularly divisive election campaign, has left a divided country.

Right up to the last hours, opinion polls swung widely in their predictions of which way the vote was going to go.

This has been the closest election in Brazil’s history, and the challenge now for Dilma Rousseff is to rule this country with a very narrow majority.
