Uruguay elections aftermath: Presidential election goes to run-off

World Today

Uruguay is headed for a runoff after no candidate in Sunday’s presidential elections managed to win an outright majority. Left leaning Former President Tabare Vazquez of the Broad Front party will go head-to-head on Nov. 30 with Luis Lacalle Pou of the center-right National Party.  CCTV America’s Joel Richards reports.

With about 47 percent of Sunday’s vote, the Broad Front is well-positioned to extend its 10 years in government. But the weekend’s results show Uruguay is still undecided on key issues, and it is those issues that could ultimately decide who becomes Uruguay’s next president.
