Wandering singers may be a thing of the past, but El Cuarteto de Amor, or The Quartet of Love, is hoping to revive the troubadour method of sharing music. The group from Uruguay is currently touring the United States.

While traveling from city to city to perform for paying audiences is common among many professional bands, the members of El Cuarteto de Amor make a point to take to the streets when they are between gigs.

They walk around cities, neighborhoods, landmarks and popular spots, and serenade the residents. El Cuarteto de Amor’s goal is simple: to spread joy and love wherever they go.

Recently, the Quartet was in Washington D.C. where in addition to serenading residents, they talked to Americas Now about their experiences and hopes as they try to make the world a better place.
