Power handoff timetable unclear in Burkina Faso after president steps down amid protests

Political upheaval ensued in the West African nation of Burkina Faso after the resignation of the embattled president. Many people are upset that the country is controlled by the military.

The army promises to hand back power to a transitional government, but it remains unclear when that will happen.

The United Nations, the European Union, and the United States have all joined African leaders in demanding a speedy transfer of power back to civilian rule.
