US and China promise to improve strategic relationship

Global Business

The world’s two biggest economies announced a historic climate deal, along with agreements on travel visas, information technology and reducing military tensions. These deals have transformed what was at times seen as a testy relationship into a far more strategic one for the U.S. and China.

Analysts said agreements like this are proof of what China and the U.S. can accomplish when they decide to lead together.

“We are seeing the two countries that are responsible for together about 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions… coming together and saying climate change is our top tier issue, we are ready to step to reduce emissions,” said Radley Horton, a scientist at the Columbia University Center for Climate Systems Research.

CCTV America’s Nathan King reported on how the climate change talks have paved the way for a new type of U.S.-China relationship.
