Colombian Artist Fernando Botero remembered

“The Art of Fernando Botero” is a newly released book that celebrates the work of acclaimed Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero. The author of the biography, which includes a collection of the artist’s work, is his son, Juan Carlos Botero.

“Americas Now” anchor Elaine Reyes sits down with Juan Carlos to discuss the career of his 82-year old father.

Fernando Botero gained fame for his trademark style of painting figures in an exaggerated form. The large, voluminous depictions have been used for both comic purposes but also serious subjects ranging from politics to the Colombian drug war.

In the interview, Juan Carlos Botero recalls growing up with Fernando as his father. He remembers his father’s influences, early years and great works.
