South African company donates scooters in Ebola fight

Ebola Outbreak

AfroCentric Health, a South African health care company, has donated 17 motor scooters to South Africa’s Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi, following a call by the minister for South African businesses to support the United Nations Ebola Response Fund. CCTV America’s Rene del Carme reported this story from Centurion, South Africa.

Motsoaledi said the Ebola crisis was a time for all Africans to unite and get involved in helping Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea, and that it was imperative for all countries on the continent to strengthen their health systems.

Diplomats from Guinea and Liberia said they were touched by the donation and that any small gesture could help make a difference in their countries.

“This may not be perceived to be much but it’s a token of our support… This contribution is aimed at improving access and transportation of medical supplies to communities affected by Ebola, to ensure that the medicines can reach outlying areas and rural communities in the countries affected by this crisis,” said Anna Mokgokong, the chair of AfroCentric Health.
