Although a mere 20 tons of the fruit are harvested each year, this small Venezuelan town is known as an international cocoa capital, and top chocolatier makers have to place their orders 19 years in advance. With recent reports indicating a probable shortage of the fruit in the future, the interest in this remote location will likely be increasing.
